Kishke

From Daniyel's cookbook recipe that he sent me:

Kishke:

2 onions, diced (I usually use 1 large one or it makes too much)

2 c. flour

2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

1 T Paprika (I use smoked paprika)

1 c. oil

Place onions, flour, and spices in Ziploc bag. Seal bag leaving air inside.

Shake well to coat onions. Add oil to bag. Reseal bag squeezing out the air.

Knead the bag to form a thick paste like texture. Form a loaf and cook according to 1 of three ways

(I do method #3):

1. Place in bubbling cholent.

2. Wrap in foil before placing in chulent.

3. Wrap in foil and bake at 350 for 1 hour, then place in chulent.

If you are wrapping the kishke in foil you may want to prick the foil a few times with a toothpick to absorb chulent flavor (I do this).

Lower heat.

Allow chulent and kishke to simmer overnight.
